All About the Control Phase
The Control phase is about sustaining improvements by either eliminating the opportunity for defects or monitoring the process and using a formal feedback system. You see.... even the best solutions may fail over time if a control system is not in place to maintain the gains. In this course, we will learn strategies to help ensure improvements remain in place and help reduce variability.
Mistake Proofing /
Error proofing
The best approach to minimize defects from re-occurring is prevention. This approach eliminates errors before they occur which saves time & money. in this lesson, we will learn the common prevention technique called, "Error proofing or mistake proofing" which makes it impossible for a process and/or operation to be performed incorrectly.
Control Charts
Control charts is a method used to detect process variation. You will learn how to create a control charts from the trend/run chart established in the analyze phase with upper and lower control limits drawn on either side of the process average. As well, you will learn how to monitor and detect process variation and distinguish between special causes and common causes as a guide to corrective actions to be taken.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
The final step of the control phase is to update the standard operating procedures (SOP) and training plan to include all revised process steps and control measures. This (updating the SOP) is to help ensure all the project improvements efforts that were achieved will be maintained by updating the living documents (SOP's) and the training plan.
